Proposal
Proposal
For our task we were asked to create a music magazine on any genre of music. Our magazine must contain a front cover, contents page and a double page spread. These were the minimum requirements, even though we are only doing a double page spread, inside the magazine we must put in a full contents page to show we understand what will need to go into the magazine if we were doing other pages.
For my magazine I decided to do a "don’t flop" rap battle magazine. The reason for this is because there isn’t anything at all like this on the market at the moment. Don’t flop is a YouTube channel who arguably take some of the best rapper and battle rappers there is from the UK, Europe even the USA and make the two of them battle. I thought it would be a good idea to create a magazine on this because on you tube, the views and channel subscribers don’t flop has is un real, so creating a magazine for this would catch their attention and a lot would probably subscribe to the magazine so the profit would be good and also all the fans will be up to date, which is important. I have got my magazine lay out from the magazine vibe, I like the whole way they set out their magazines and I can base my lay out on theirs. The things I like about the lay out is especially on the front cover, the way the whole title doesn’t need to be shown because the image of the artist is more important due to the fact everyone will know what the magazine is. I also like the way that the colours contrast and complement each other well. The mid-shot of the artist on the front cover is the most dominant image on the page, what they’re wearing corresponds with the colour scheme of the front cover, this looks good because everything fits together and looks smart together. These aspects will be displayed in my magazine because this is how I want my front cover to be set out.
As my model I will use my friend and class mate Liam Lindsay. I will be taking a mid-shot photo of him posing. He will need to look arrogant and like he is the best. The reason for this is because this is how the rapper looks in the magazines for vibe and other rap magazines. As I said before I like the style of the Vibe magazine and due to this I am going to base most aspects of my magazine on it, including the attributes of the artist/band in the front cover photo. What he is wearing on the front cover, the text will correspond to. I have chosen this particular model because he isn’t somebody who looks like he is into rap battling type of music; however he dresses and looks cool the way he does dress. I believe this will give a new angle to the rap battling scene in a way. The reason being he hasn’t got your stereotypical battle rapper dress sense.
The equipment I will be using to capture and edit these pictures is: A camera to take the actual photos, a green screen which will enable me to edit the back ground of the model easier and a computer with photo-shop CS6 to edit the photos. The props/piece of clothing I definitely want is a coat with a hood, be it a parker or casual coat, the reason for this is to emphasise the fact he doesn’t have the stereotypical dress sense of a hip-hop rap battler, I am going to take photos of him with the hood up and the hood down to give the audience two different views of the model. No make-up will be needed. I will take the photo in front of a green screen or near the woods. These are my choices and I will make that decision closer to the time of photo shoot. I will also need a computer with word processor so that I can write up and article about this rapper so that the photo is able to correspond with the text.
For my actual magazine I would like to have a colour scheme and a special issue, due to the fact that it is almost Christmas I may do a Christmas edition of my magazine. If I do this I could also do other events not quite as big as Christmas but things like St. Patricks day etc. For each one I could use a different colour scheme of colours that correspond with the day that the issue is based on. For example if it did happen to be St. Patrick’s day I could use the colour’s predominantly green, white and orange due to the fact that is to do with Ireland.

Double page draft article
Draft of article
Absolutely bodying every opponent he comes up against, the 16 year old
has incredible lyrical talent. He has come out of nowhere! Dropping huge disses
on each battler whom tries to take him on is left deflated and mentally
destroyed.
The battle newbie has come fresh out of Doncaster, Armthorpe to be
specific! This little village in the little village Doncaster
is basically not even on the map! It isn’t renowned for anything big; they
haven’t had any world cup winners or Olympic gold medallists! Liam Lindsay the
new up and comer is the best thing to come out of Armthorpe since Kevin Keegan!
–That’s my opinion anyway.
I was lucky enough to have a chat with Liam while he was chillin’ where
they usually go to hang out or “doss” as they call it around here. Some of the
lingo that has been brought to don’t flop by Liam’s battles is un-real, rappers
have started to follow/imitate his flows and way he drops them with them. Liam
was very welcoming, not like the hoodlum, hooligans the media are always hyping
about. He wasn’t f’ing this, f’ing that every sentence either! I was starting
wonder whether this battle rapper was for real or he was putting a face on to
fool me! But it was all legitimate, it came as a bit of a shock actually, it’s
almost as if he becomes a demon when he raps and he is suddenly possessed by
something evil that wants to kill his opponent and cause as much damage to his
mind and ego before he finished him/her off! So far his tactic has worked bang
on! He was a completely down to earth lad, couldn’t knock his personality at
all, he even bought me fish and chips, so he is automatically in my good books,
I just hope I’m in his so I don’t get embarrassed world-wide when it is put on
you tube. Much like the rest of his opponents no matter how sick their
performance is they are absolutely hammered by Liam!
Make sure you all watch for this kid on your televisions that’s the only
new high he could go to. He’s already smashed the you tube and sound cloud
views, one with his battles and the other with his heavy beats and bars in song
form! I told you this boy was a rare talent.
He is currently in the process of making a new video he tells me and
there’s also gonna’ be a new “massive tune” his passion for music makes him
sound big headed and arrogant, but it is the love he has for the music he
creates which makes him think so highly of it. So if anybody would like to tell
him he’s arrogant, I’d sincerely you don’t agree to battle him!
